Issue downgrading from 7.20 to 7.19.6

I’m trying to downgrade away from the buggy 7.20 releases. I was able to downgrade from 7.20.4→7.20.3→7.20.2→7.20.1→7.20. When I try and downgrade to 7.19.6 I get the error pictures below.

Has anybody else ran into this issue? I’m uploading the routeros.npk file as well as the extra release packages(16 files), prior to downgrading the router.

Appreciate the assistance

Which exact model device Is that?

hapax3, factory firmware was 7.16.1.

As indicated in other thread, only load packages which are present. No more, no less.

On hAP ax3 there are two packages installed from factory: routeros (the base OS package) and wifi-qcom (wifi drivers).

And there's no need to step down each minor version, generally it's possible to go directly to target version (e.g. 7.20.4 -> 7.19.6).

Well, then somehow you are adding/installing extra packages that are NOT needed on a Ax3.
You should only need the base RouterOs package and ONLY wifi-qcom of the extra.
Check what packages you have installed now and uninstall all of them except the mentioned two.

Thanks for the help man. I was able to get it downgraded by installing just qcom and routeros. I did this previously but you know how that works… thanks again

Yep, the manual upgrade or downgrade procedure Is not exactly user-friendly, you need to know before which packages to upload to the device.

Now ROS has a package manager that can download packages. It is pretty lame that ROS does not offer a convenient downgrade feature. Select version from allowed versions (device mode) and confirm. Why must it be so cumbersome? No one can argue there comes special powers and flexibility by manual upload. Yes, helpful when no internet available. But really not state of the art. It was kind of okay in 2008, but it is 2025. 2026 soon.
