Hi folks,
I have an open question, no replies yet, about my inability to get a wireless interface into CAPsMAN but this is an entirely separate question I think.
I currently have 3 AP’s, WAP devices, all set p as CAP’s, yes there was some fiddling and a profound lack of understanding but they appear to be working OK now.
Optimisation still to do though I expect.
My router, the one with the wireless interface that is refusing to show up in CAPsMAN also seems to be OK but for that one issue and the interface is currently disabled.
SO… Pretty standard setup I expect, 1 router doing everything other than beind an AP and also running CAPs MAN & 3 CAPs, all of which are wired back to the router and on separate WIFI channels.
they are all 2.4GHz g/n and seem OK speed wise.
When I set the thing/s up I disallowed local traffic, having seen some stuff suggesting that this was good practice, but immediately found that none of my devices would detect or cast to my TV box, which has ‘Chromecast built in’. I spent ages trying to figure out what was wrong, everything is in the same sub-net, just a class C, and everything worked, including AV apps on the TV box.
I eventually tried enabling local forwarding and client to client forwarding on the data path tab and everything found the Chromecast again…
Can anyone explain why this would be? Do I need a route between interfaces, other than the bridge in the router? Is the firewall in play perhaps?
I am sure that this will be some silly error buy I cant see it or more likely just don’t know what I am doing yet…
Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Al
