Issue with L2TP/IPSec

Hi,
I have enabled L2TP/IPSec on MikroTik router for two remote windows 10 workstations to use RPC. They both can connect in. But when they both try to connect to a remote desktop they will lose the connection.

Can someone help to provide me with some insight into this issue?

When you write “when they both try to connect”, do you actually have in mind “if any of them tries to connect” or that really both have to connect at the same time in order to lose the connection?

If you don’t try to connect to a remote desktop but try to just ping something via the L2TP tunnel, does it work or the connection also fails? And when you say they lose connection, does it mean the L2TP connection is lost or just the RDP connection?

They both were connected and I tried to open a browser to test. For the first one it worked fine I can browser and stay on the page. Once the second tried to connect to remote desktop the first one lost the remote connection.

L2TP connections were ok for both just the remote desktop. If I changed to OPEVPN both can connect to remote desktop at the same time no issue

Do both the PCs access the internet from behind the same public address? I.e. does the Mikrotik see them to connect from the same public IP?

YES → they are from the same public address
