Issue with VRRP and Vlan Interfaces

Hi,

I have an issue with a particular network that the client requires 2 VLANS with the same IP address i.e 10.66.0.2 on both of the interfaces and running VRRP between each of the VLANS with the IP address of 10.66.0.1

All appears to work fine until i add the VRRP interfaces to each of the VLAN interfaces in which case pings from PCs hanging off each VLAN stop responding when pinging 10.66.0.2

I have attached a drawing of what the network looks like in a nutshell

I’m probably missing some details, but the first impression is that this is what they call “broken by design”. I mean, even if you wanted to have “cloned” setup with same addresses on two different vlans (which by itself sounds a little crazy, but perhaps it might be possible with some tricks), don’t you need at least one more address to play with?

Hi Sob,

Thanks for your reply - yes without knowing the context is does look a bit “broken” i will amend my drawing and re-post.

Why does VLAN 3600 and VLAN 3620 have the same network range?
