I've just installed the O.S.

RouterOS Beginner Basics

I need help to initially configure the O.S. to get my system up and running as soon as possible;

1- need to setup a hotspot
2- need to setup users
3- need to setup BW restrictions.

first make sure the internet works without any of these features (check that you have an IP, route, that user can access the internet).

then:

  1. simply run the hotspot setup by clicking the appropriate button
  2. users you will set during the setup

Thanks, I am very new to this, I can not get the internet to go through the router, what I really need at this stage is a step by step writeup or script to get the system working with the very basic minimum setup.

Can any one assist please.

Set your routerboard eth0 ip subnet/netmask/gateway thru serial terminal (hyperterminal), connect ethernet cable from pc/laptop to eth0, set pc/laptop ethernet to same subnet then winbox into routerboard to set up your wireless interface(s), firewall , etc,etc…
