Just another "how many users" question

I know that the max number of users connected to an AP depends of some factors and every context is different, so here is my target system:

  • RB532A + 2 R52 + 2 sector antennas (2x180º 2.4Ghz Hor. polarization)
  • 512/128 kbps for each user (DL/UL)
  • Peer2Peer partially allowed (256/64 and 100 max. connections for each user)
  • No online gaming or low ping requirements (a 10-20 ms sustained ping is tolerable)

What do you think?

By other side, I have a doubt with nstreme in this situations… is better or worse?

Do you think that 80 users/AP are possible?

Nstreme should make P2MP more effective (users/BW per sector)
BUT

  • ensure it’s in a low-interference environment
  • use Routing not WDS/bridging
There are quite a few experienced operators on the forum who have posted quite a bit on this topic.
  • Do you really think the 2.4GHz spectrum is “clean” in your location?
remember a 180 sector potentially lets in twice the noise than a 90 degree sector, etc, depending on gain and downtilt.
