hi every body
i have 1.8Km wireless link with “RB433GL,UBNT SR71-15 , 27dBi dual pol dishes” , signal :47/48
the udp throughput in every direction is more than 100Mb and 80/90 (both)
the tcp throughput in every direction is almost 80Mb and 48/47 (both)
and these measurement are between routerboards on the towers.
till here you see a very good wireless link but the problem begins when i connect both cables in every site to a computer and try to share files in windows or use BTest … you discover that the throughput is 25Mb in windows , and 50/25 in PC BTest , and 12/11 in laptop with BTest! , we also tested windows XP’s FTP the results were useless
both cables are less than 70m and i am using 24v-3A poe adapter
i have replaced the cable with better one (CAT5e,SFTP) and even the poe adapters but nothing has changed
the configuration is :
tx power : 17 card rate (both) because i get more speed in this situation(wireless)
protocol : nv2
nstream : checked
band : 40 MHz below 5 GHz only N
frequency : 6010
bridge/station bridge
data rate = advance
i saw a topic like mine but how changing the ‘bandwidth testing method’ is gonna make windows move files faster ? http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/nstreme-dual-bandwidth-test-problem/60071/1
i am really looking for solution . tnx
update :
we’ve tried to simulate the exact situation somewhere else with RB433AH boards. and we transferred almost 100% of cable’s potential , 98-99Mbps windows 7 to windows 7 file sharing both direction .
is it really because of the 433GL ? or i am missing something ?! wondering to know
I have reported this problem meny times… no answer.
We have some links going 300/300Mbit modulation speed, going over 200Mbit using Btest, but normal data from Internet to PC are comming much slower … cca 50-60Mbit.
I dont know why.
We tested like that:
1100AH as Btest Master ↔ 433GL + R52HN ↔ R52HN + 433GL ↔ 433GL as Btest slave
we have server – RB800<->433Gl–PC (with advance channels link is 240mbit) no problems only difference from hamedezzati is my pc local is connected on 1gb with 433gl
tanx to all of you , have you tried pc to pc file transfer ? what do you mean by “advance channel” ? i am using super channel .. is it same ? this 240Mbps is udp or tcp ? both or one direction ?
Hi hamedezzati
At the beginning I was confused about advance channel this is new feature that is implemented in ROS v6.x http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wireless_Advanced_Channels
But for using advanced channel u must enable extra-channels future(not superchannel) on the RB - write to suport@mikrotik they will explain u how u must fill a form…
Than u can use >40 Mhz channel width (mine is on 60Mhz 2*30Mhz)
the test is from server to pc its UDP trafic with btest, TCP is about 150-180mbit
but link is 1.3km perfect LOS
tanx to Lakis for explanation i will follow your description of advance channel , its sounds like amazing for me .
my project is done and the problem solves with using 433AH and 100 Mbps TCP one direction
i never forgive 433GL
Hi. This is not an optimum wireless link. Reduce your output power at both ends to get those signal strengths down to the mid 60s. Too much power hitting the radios will cause you problems.
