Kernel Panic!

Well today I decide to upgrade to latest ver. my mikrotik , and there is trobleshoting …
mikrotik wont boot any more … so I connect monitor and keyboard and I see masage: Kernel panic : no init found : Try passing init= option to kernel
I have AMD duron 1,2 ghz , ECS mainboard no ethernet on board , 3 NIC realtek .
I try to unplug all NIC from mainboard and still have same error …
Any idea how to fix this?

reinstall is prob your best and safest bet.

OH no …
My hard drive is dead …(Maxtor Diamond Max Plus9 120 gb)
When I try reinstall mikrotik i have error
could not read MBR : input/output error
Fatall error : mke2fs failed

I also try under dos with fdisk - have error - could not acces to hard drive ..

Bios is recognize disk (I test this on few other computers under windows , dos …) , but always same error.
I was also try to change IDE cable … always same errors…
Probably I need to make low level format with powermax from maxtor,
but if I do this I will lose my licence right ?
What is expirience with mikrotik in this situation ?

You’re rigth! You lost your license :frowning:

Email MT support / sales and get a replacement key for something like $10.

hi all
i faced like this problem u need to fix you MBR its master boot record you can fix it throw winxp cd go to repair then enter “FIXMBR” and ur harddisk well work fine but you will face another problem UR software ID will be changed

no not (ever) format or repartition your hard drive. never! router os installer will reformat for you. if you do it yourself, you will end up losing your license and paying for a replacement.

this is written in the manual, and i mean - everywhere. please read the manual before you do anything.
