Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
I use Netinstall 3.3 - he saw no mikrotik. What to do?
Anyone help with this? I have exactly the same problem after trying to upgrade a 532A from 4.17 to 5.8. When the board wouldn’t boot I tried a netinstall and get the following:
RouterBOOT booter 2.8
RouterBoard 532A
CPU frequency: 399 MHz
Memory size: 64 MB

loading kernel from nand… OK

Or have Mikrotik’s software engineers contrived to write off another perfectly good board for me?
I have a very short null-modem cable and my PC’s serial port is at the back of the machine so the board had to be under the desk when I powered it up, and by the time I had made it back to the keyboard the two-second window for hitting a key had clearly passed… We live and learn.
Anyway I reformatted the NAND and managed to re-install RouterOS v4.16 and I’m going to leave it there. Upgrading RouterBoards is just too dangerous.
However reformatting the NAND cost me my software id. Can I have my licence back, please Mikrotik? After all, I wouldn’t have lost it had you taken the trouble to warn me that upgrading from 4 to 5 was going to cost me my NAND despite the licence tab informing me that the Board was upgradeable to V6?
Now solved … with BootLoader 2.8 and Netinstall 5.8 dont work … i upload a new BootLoader (an old one) with
a terminal and Xmodem and now with BootLoader 2.18 and Netinstall 5.8 work fine …
