hi
I configured L2tp with this details: L2TP Server=Active L2TP Profile=
Local Address= Router Wan Interface
Remote Address= DHCP Pool IPSec Peer=
Flags: X - disabled
0 address=0.0.0.0/0 port=500 auth-method=pre-shared-key secret=“*****” generate-policy=yes exchange-mode=main
send-initial-contact=yes nat-traversal=no proposal-check=obey my-id-user-fqdn=“” hash-algorithm=sha1
enc-algorithm=3des dh-group=modp1024 lifetime=1d lifebytes=0 dpd-interval=disable-dpd dpd-maximum-failures=1
now at windows xp i created a vpn connection and configured the secret key and pap,chap,mschapv1,2
when trying to connect to server i receive this error:
Error 678.The Remote Computer did not respond.
and at server logs i see:
l2tp Info|first L2TP UDP packet received from w.x.y.z
l2tp Info|first L2TP UDP packet received from w.x.y.z
and then client disconnects.
(i can connect with pptp without any problem. also i dont want that the clients change their registry settings with prohibiting IPSec)
Thanks for your reply.
I need to find the solution to do this. pptp is working well the problem is with L2TP.
the other vpn providers are using L2TP without registry configuration on clients. but how they do this?
I couldn’t find any solution for this in forum and wiki.
Thanks for your reply.
it’s working when modifying registry but i want that kind of configuration in router that not to force clients to modify their registry. most of the vpn providers don’t want clients to modify and works well without that.
is it possible in Microtik Routers!!!
I get the same problem with version 5.12 however with a differance…
Setup L2TP with IPSEC and it’s successfull, windows connects perfect using full L2tp with IPSEC however the momment i go accross the net it breaks and ends up saying
“first L2TP UDP packet received from” message on the mikrotik side.
Still in windows 10 15063 x64 having the same issue. I could connect on my android phone, but i had to add the registry key for the vpn to work in windows environment.
Thank you for you post
