I have weird problem. We were using PPTP for very long time until some dude has published a post about breaking PPTP in 2 days by paying some another dude USD$200. In the end he did not try but he did assume it possible. So since then wide World panic called PPTP insecure and we are to use L2TP. All good, there is only one problem with all of this, it works awesome and then locks up so cannot log in from any Windows. I have tried with Radius, then stand alone, then done all Googling and Binging and found nothing. In short it locks up randomly and the only way to log in is to go and clear SAs or Peers from all tunnels.
But leave it for 2 days and it may unlock or not. It like some machines too so it will only allow one. No other depending on the mood. But if all goes well then I may have a luck and have more able to log in.
Cannot do it in production. So I have tested on another 2 other routers and the same thing happens. In the end L2TP we use it IPSEC. I have tried with Radius and without it on different hardware as per book instructions.
Question: Anybody had this happening? Ideas?
