Hello together,
since a few days I own a static public IP-Address and so I tried to configure a VPN with my RouterBoard RB2011UiAS-2HnD.
I’ve watched several youtube videos but I can’t get the l2tp/IPSec VPN to work from external.
My RB ist natted.
Firewall Rules (Input, Accept - UDP dst-port 500, 1701, 4500) were set.
l2tp-Server is running.
When I connect from my LAN via Windows 8.1 to the VPN the connection gets established.
Also via my Galaxy S4 from LAN.
When I try it from my Office or via LTE-Connection from my S4 the connection allways fails.
I’ve activated logging for l2tp and IPSec but I don’t mention anything that could result in an error.
What can I do to figure out why it’s not working?
By the Way. It’s not a site2site. I just want to connect via my Smartphone or Notebook to my Home-LAN.
Best regards.

I am in the same boat as you…l2tp/ipsec vpn works at home office when I am using the guess network to connect…doesn’t when I am at the coffee shop. Researching has led me to a conclusion…firewall. L2TP is known to have issues with port 500 and firewall.
