L3HW: Route HW table FULL

May i know if this is a concern?

Hi! I’m having the same issue in a CCR2216. Did you find any solution?

Solution for what exactly?

It means that you’ve maxed out the L3 HW-offload memory, and any packets destined for routes that aren’t in the ASIC will be routed by the CPU like any other CCR or RB device.

The only way to “fix” this “problem” is to create filters reducing the amount of routes your router ingests from its neighbors. And use multiple routers and split the load up across them.

Hi All

I have a question regarding this. I have a CCR2116 ROS version 7.11.2 with 567059 IP4 routes.

When I enable HW offloading and I get the message L3HW: Route table FULL then I see my CPU usage starts increasing and increasing until eventually the router is unresponsive, requiring a hard reboot. When the router reboots, CPU usage starts increasing again so you have to quickly disable HW offloading.

Any idea what causes this?

That should be the expected behaviour.
If we have CCR2116 with 2/3 FRT, we could keep the l3-hw offload ON so we can benefit for the l3-hw for the routes that are in the ASIC, the other one will go via CPU as always in a CCR without L3-HW.

Any other disavantages in that? Or freezes or hangs?
