LDF2 serial console access?

I have an LDF2 that I am trying to get serial console access to determine why it’s not booting successfully. I’ve noticed 2 different sets of pad on the PCB.

  1. do I need to do anything special to enable the serial console?
  2. which set of pads has the UART on it?
  3. what is the pinout for TX/RX on it?

Sadly on most modern routerboards and devices, it’s pretty much impossible to use UART for anything useful. There is no bios and no console is spawn on it. Unless you enable it manually beforehand, you will not get any access, just a few debug messages during boot and that’s it. And because bootloader doesn’t have any menu system anymore, you can’t even use it to force booting from network etc. So it’s really only useful if you flash LEDE to it or do other experiments…
