For a valid certificate you need a valid domain name… So even if they include that package i don’t see what changes…
You’d be able to get certificate for login page. Intercepting https requests to other servers still wouldn’t work, of course. But if hotspot detection works correctly on client, it would go to secure login page with trusted certificate.
As far as i know a certificate can not be issued from a certificate authority for a non existing Domain Name..!

Who says non-existing? If I buy real mysuperbestdomain.tld, I can have https://hotspot.mysuperbestdomain.tld as login page and get valid certificate for it.
I dont know… no one mentioned this important part…!
