Ok so in this video, regarding proxmox, he mentions that someone should buy MikroTik in order to do hardware based software defined networking with proxmox. I definitely would not like for any American or Chinese company to buy MikroTik!

I saw that and I doubt there's any danger of such a thing happening any time soon. MikroTik is a privately owned company and it looks like they raked in a healthy €100M in net profit on €400M revenue in 2023, so in my opinion the two owners would be crazy to give that up unless someone wants to toss some serious "F you" money at them. If I were John and Arnis, I'd keep the business in my family as long as I could, barring someone waving a check for €10B+ in my face.
