I have purchased a LGH-R and am trying to get a Sierra Wireless MC7354 PCIe card to work with it. in System > Resources > usb the card is listed as device 1. I have a ppp-client interface configured to us usb1. When run command interface ppp-client info 1 I get a message “no response from modem” same when I do scan. Any advice?
Did you set “Ignore DirectIP modem”? Have the correct data/info port?
I have set
system routerboard usb set type=mini-PCIe
port firmware set ignore-directip-modem=yes
I do not know what the correct data/info port are I have tried
system serial-terminal port=usb1 channel=0
system serial-terminal port=usb1 channel=1
both open terminal that provide no response, when try a higher channel i get “failure: no such channel”
Below is some extra info… I have also tried a Sierra Wireless MC7455 card with no luck

modem did not respond
Not sure if it helps but for the data/info ports on the MC7304 are both 2. You could try that?
Ok I ordered a USB to PCIe card and flashed the MC5354 to new firmware. Installed back into my LGR and now I can reach it on channel 2 via serial-terminal. Should the INFO and DATA channel be the same, no other channels seem to respond. When I do a scan sometimes it gives me a error other times it just produces no results. Does the scan take a long time? also if the SIM card Im using is currently not activated should i get results ? I may have to get it up on the roof but was hoping to wait till think it may work.

Ideally you want different channels but both being set to 2 is the only thing that works on quite a lot of the SW modems with PPP.
The only real issue is you have to disable the interface before using the Info button or doing AT Commands.
Scan never worked for my MC7304 modem.
Depends on the ISP I think, but you definitely want the SIM activated - most ISPs will just ignore it otherwise.
I made some adjustments to my ppp-client interface. log shows “terminating… - peer is not responding”. I am not a 100% sure that my SIM card is provisioned correctly, I do not have another AT&T device to test it in at the moment. Any one see this log message before? Thank you

Do you need the modem-init command?
Is the APN correct?
I was able to verify the SIM card does work using a old unlocked phone and APN “broadband” to get LTE. Using the modem init of “AT+CFUN=1”. Could be a coverage issue as I am on the fringe or signal was hoping the LGH-R 21dbi would give me the reception I needed. I have not installed it outdoors yet maybe once its outside and up 3 stories will be the difference.
I have been able do some testing with my equipment in a location with better reception, I have showing LTE access and -89db signal. when go to connect I an now getting a message
ppp-out1: could not determine remote address, using 10.112.112.128
and then the connection terminates. assume something is setup wrong.
Thanks
Ok I have been able to get a successful connection. Some reason I had to remove the APN all together from the PPP-out1 interface. Doesn’t make sense to me but worked.
