LHG license upgrade

Is it possible to get the license for the LHG5 upgraded from level 3 to level 4 so it can be used as access point?
Thanks

You could, but it would cost 45$ and the antenna beamwidth of this device is very narrow. The “client” devices would have to be quite close together and far apart. The antenna beam width is only 7 degrees.

Thank you for the info. I noticed the small beamwith of the LHG5, but that is what I wanted in order to reach the client several kilometers away.

STOP
If you want only do a point-to-point connection, L3 License is sufficent,
simply select bridge, instead of ap-bridge.

@Normis talk about upgrade because from your first post is mean you want link more than one client to the LHG.
For how many clients you need the LHG?

Yes,

Default LHG uses mode station, meaning it’s a CPE / Client
Change the wireless mode to bridge and it will work for point to point links (one side has “bridge” other side has “station”). For this your L3 license is enough!
Only if you need point to multipoint, you need L4 license, meaning if you need many clients connected to this single LHG. With L4 you can set mode “ap-bridge” for this purpose).

Ah, now I understand. That wasn’t clear to me. Since I am new to this, I followed some tutorials I found on the net and they all talked about ap-bridge.
For now it is only one client I need to connect. Later on more more clients laying in the same direction will be added to it.
Thank you very much for the valuable information you provided to me!

I am operating an LHG5 as an access point in one of our locations. I upgraded the license using a “free license received when visiting a MUM” and it works OK.
Of course indeed your clients have to be all in the beamwidth of the antenna, but when e.g. one is far away and another is close by, that does not really present a problem.
