first please forgive me if Its a simple answer to my problem.
Im having issues getting a LHG LTE18 kit to work, I have been upgraded to fiber and have no need for my LHG LTE18 kit, so I hope to pass it on to my friend who will never get fiber and uses a TPLink lte router for there internet.
anyway i get my LHG LTE18 kit out of the box take it to his house point to the mast power up and press reset on the unit, go inside connect to the LHG LTE18 kit using winbox and change password, hoping that was it.
i get ip address from the lte service ( good link )
my laptop gets ip address from the LHG LTE18 kit.
but i cant see the internet on the LHG LTE18 kit or on my pc, it just say timed out**,**
thing i have done..
reset the config ( meany times )
updated software ( downloaded from website using my phone and uploaded using winbox )
set apn manually ( tried more then one network sim )
and shouted at the unit.
we have used my older LtAP LTE6 kit for now which i had issue with the sim slot but all working now , but i would love to know if anyone has any ideas. we cant let tplink win .
p.s i did use the LHG LTE18 kit with a pfsense router and had the lte pass though on a vlan and worked great, dose this unit need anther router to work? or can it just work link the tplink lte router.
Thank you for all your help. sorry for my gamma and spelling its been a long day.
are you sure that you are connected to proper APN with LTE connection?
You can get IP and other settings assigned from ISP but if the SIM/number is not allowed to transmit on particular APN then there would be no Internet. Does your SIM plan cover Internet connection or is it activated? Seems to be a stupid question but sometimes the simplest things got overlooked. Maybe SIM Internet transfer limit is exhausetd?
Have you checked the SIM in phone?
Make sure that you have also disabled (unchecked in Winbox) use network APN:
"use-network-apn=no"
Ah, no, that old trick doesn't work anymore with the newish devices, when shouting you now need to also brandish a baseball bat or a hammer or similar dangerous object to convince them.
Thank you for getting back to me. I ill remember to use a hammer next , I got it going finally it was the apn setting using the cli command that worked.
Cavemen, just brutal caveman ... nowadays you should consider an AI driven "cosette repair session" for the LTE device to gently convince it to cooperate:)
it is light enough to be easily waved with energy in front of the device, and it has a kind of threatening mechanical look, devices know by instinct that it can do real damage .
