LHG RBLHGR LTE R11e-LTE modem firmware upgrade issue

Hi,

Looking for some assistance please with upgrading the LTE R11e-LTE modem firmware.

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
installed: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v008
latest: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v017

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: failed

The firmware seems to download fine but fails as above

Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is internal error, we can say only that you should try at latest ROS 6.47 and maybe with other SIM card bcs the update can be done only by lte1 interface itself.
If that two stuff not help then you must write directly to MikroTik Support ! Only they can give you a way to upgrade firmware.

Hi SiB,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, am trying the firmware upgrade after ROS 6.47 upgrade - and have tested with 3 different SIMs from different MNOs all with same result.
Firmware is downloading via LTE, but not installing for some reason.

I have reached out to Mikrotik support, awaiting a response now.

Thanks.

Firmware of ROS or boot-loader or lte modem firmware?
About ROS - you can download a npk package and do that manual.
About modem firmware - you can not use lte1 but give internet from other source to chateau via ether1 and that way try again.

Good that you report that to MikroTik support directly

Hi SiB,

Packages and Routerboard FW upgraded as per attachments.

I have also tried lte modem firmware download via my existing router with a fibre connection - the same problem persists - file downloads, and then fails with same error :

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
installed: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v008
latest: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v017
[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: downloading via LTE connection: 21%
– [Q quit|D dump|C-z pause]

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: downloading via LTE connection: 69%

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: downloading via LTE connection: 99%

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: installing (3min to complete)

Ahh - it worked that time. I think it was a classic case of needing to reboot the unit and try again.

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
installed: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v008
latest: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v017
[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
status: done

[admin@d+h-LTE-A] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
latest: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v017

Many thanks for your assistance anyway.

Take care,

Liam

What speed could I expect from this modem?
I am getting 20/10 M while the same SIM card is getting 150/50 inside iPhone.

Yes this is what you can probably expect.
Iphone is a multi 100$ device while Mtik is 100+/-. The LTE modem is not the same (CAT4 inside Mtik).

But keep in mind, not providing any information will not allow to give you any further answer…
(what iphone model, which country, is carrier using the frequency supported by R11e or different ones etc.).

Please write to support@mikrotik.com, they can share you a firmware as binary with instruction.
You will must buy a USB WWAN Adapter, one who is work and last time tested by another user was (maybe if you have one then he works, check):

“Another user” is me. I confirm that R11e-LTE international and R11e-LTE-US are recognized by this adapter.

Regards.
