OK, so what does this mean?
yes
(V3 = no)
Does this mean that if you buy a level 3 (for example), and are doing RIP on it, that RIP won’t work if you upgrade to V3.x?

Wow, I hadn’t noticed that. Looks that way. ![]()
Hmm, I didn’t notice that before - I would have ordered lvl5 licenses.
It would be better to have the RIP versions in all levels, and include OSPF etc in >=lvl5. Since most off the shelf firewalls/routers these days come with some kind of RIP support.
Yeah.
It would make sense to allow simple routing (e.g. RIP/NAT) at level 3/4, and not require level 5/6 until you got into the closer-to-the-core routing protocols like OSPF and/or BGP4.
At least that is the way that I would have done it.
Seems like when V3.x comes rolling around that level 3 & 4 will become a lot less useful. But what do I know?

The other question that comes to mind is when is V3 due to come out? Next week, next month, next year, or next decade?
bp
no, RIP will stay, as will OSPF. Only BGP will require level 5 and that is only for X86. For routerboard it doesn’t change.
Until v3 is gone gold, don’t take that table seriously. We might change it (to the better of course )
Wow! glad to hear it, thanks Normis ![]()
