we has plenty RB bought about the year 2005-2010; they came with 7 digits of software-keys.
all of the units were upgraded to ROS 3.30 and ROS 4.17 with 8 digit software-keys at beginning of year 2011. (CMIIW)
As most of our clients location having very unstable power supply, some of the above RB become unstable recently. They become suddenly stop working and reboot with unknow reasons.
On regards of some friend advice, we did format nand and netinstall.
BUT… the 8 digit software-id change itself. The current software-key can not be used by the new software-id. When we downgrade the unit into any version before ROS 3.25 (such as 3.20), the software-id return the original one (7 digits) and luckily we has all the backup of the old software-keys.
So far we has RB133 and RB433 that having exactly the same problem. Has not try with other models (RB433AH, RB433UAH, RB532, RB230 and RB600) yet.
We did try the same tricks (format nand and netinstall) on the recent RB (bought at last and this years - came with 8 digits software-id) and never having the same problem (software-id change itself).
Questions :
- does someone else out there has the same / similar experiences ?
- why the old (7 digit) software-id still stay the same but the not the new one ?
