License update without loosing old license

I have license L4 on my routeros MT1. Is it possible to update MT1 to L6 and move L4 to MT2 without changing harddrives on MTs?

No

I think Mikrotik should have special price to upgrade from existing license levels to the higher ones. E.g. most of the licenses came with the MT boards are level 4. If someone bought the router boards and wants to upgrade license to level 5, he/she should not pay full level 5 price as the existing level 4 license would be lost (can’t be used elswhere).

Everyone agrees but they won’t do it.

We did have license updates before.

But then we removed this ability, and made the licenses a lot cheaper and added more features to lower level licenses. We also removed the expiry date, so now licenses last as long as you want. All these benefits are a lot better in my opinion.

Thanks, normis. I’ll switch the harddrives, it’s not so hard =)

And I would lose the level 4 lisence on my router boards if upgraded to leve 5 or 6. So I decided not to. Why can’t MT keeps those changes + upgrade discount option as well? E.g. Upgraded to the next level is cheaper than a new one but can only be used for the same Hard-disk ID as the previous lisence level. This way MT can be sure that the upgraded lisence is not used in a new hardware.
Just my 2 cents but I believe that MT will earn more sales if this is available.
