Life of IDE Flash Module

It’s been reported that the IDE flash modules are only good for 300,000-500,000 rewrites or thereabouts. I have a MT that’s been in service for only five months and the flash drive already has close to 400k writes on it. I just installed a new flash module last night and it already has 196k writes on it. I assume that the initial loading of the configuration must have been the reason for these. Is this something we need to worry about? If they’re only good for six months or less why use them?
