Well at least the damage was obvious. 
Had a switch go partially bad earlier this summer after a big batch of severe storms came through. Tracking that down took quite a while.
Looks identical to one of ours.
It was confirmed that an electrical transformer approx. 30 meters away was directly hit and this was the result.
The surge went through the electrical wiring and through the poe to the RB.
The radio card which was in use continues to work like a champ, while we had to replace the RB and POE.
