Hi all,
In PCQ queue type the default for Limit is 50 and Total Limit is 2000.
My question is: Are they the best values ? Is there any correlation between those values and my internet link ?
For example, If I have 50Mbps up and 50Mbps down, and setting PCQ Rate to 0 (equal bandwith), for all my clients, which are the best values for Limit and Total Limit ?
thanks in advance,

You may set these values as 50Mbps, if there is always 50Mbps available over the connection.
However, you may just leave them unspecified, then router will divide all available traffic between connected clients.
Ok, I understand the rate field is 0 to equalize bandwith. It’s ok.
The question is about LIMIT (pcq-limit) and TOTAL LIMIT (pcq-total-limit). The default for Limit is 50 packets, and for Total Limit 2000 packets.
Do you know if the default values are the best values for any bandwidth ? Is there any correlation between both fields in pcq queue type and my bandwith, my Internet link ?
thks in advance,
if you use rate=0 and your link is not full, Limits do not play any role. they are used when you shape traffic
Ok, great. Thanks.
If I set Rate field to 0, the Limit and Total Limit doens’t play any role. Ok
And… If It’s seting Rate to 1mb, for each cliente, using pcq-queue-type in queue tree. Remenber my bandwith is 50mb down, and It’s shaping each cliente up to 1mb.
Which are the best values for Limit and Total Limit fields in pcq-queue type ? It’s the core question. The correlation between the fields Limit and Total Limit, at pcq queue type, AND the bandwith, the trafic forwarding the router.
Should I maintain those fields at default values, regardless of the trafic crossing by the router ?
thanks in advance,
if your queue drops packets and you do not want this, you should increase limit =)
try reading once more about PCQ queue type, its parameters are easy to understand, and they are about bandwidth out of rate
Ok, taking a look at dropped packet is a great tip,
thanks,
