Limit Public IPs

I need to limit bandwidth to 25mbps on specific port on mikrotik

Here is the scenario.

Router1: is a managed router providing internet breakout via fibre to each of its port. The ports have a /29 network and one of the IPs is the gateway. We have no access to the device settings

Router2: is a Mikrotik, I have full access to, it plugs into Router1 and Router3 and Router4 plugs into it.

Router3: is another Mikrotik that uses a public IP specified on Router1 to get internet on WAN port and other ports are LAN with separate LAN network

Router4: is the same as Router3 except I have no access, it uses a public IP in the same range as Router3 and uses the same gateway as Router3 which is the IP for Router1

How do I limit the speed on Router2 for the ports that Router3 and Router4 are plugged into? I have tried using the IP in Queue but as they just pass through doesn’t seem to work

For rate limiting you have two options:

  • simple queue related to the affected ip(s)
  • queue tree attached to the interface (egress only)

For simple queue to work, FastTrack may not be enabled on the related connections, as this would bypass the hooks in RouterOS.
