Limit wireless bandwidth

Hi All,

I am new to Mikrotik RouterOS, I would like to know how to limit Wi-Fi download and upload speed (bandwidth) from Winbox?

As I found the speed obviously decreased on wired devices when high usage on Wi-Fi devices (for example a big file downloading and almost consumed all my total bandwidth from ISP for a short period of time)

I searched in the forum, some posts mentioned it can be done by using “Queues”, but I do not want to add the client IP every time I have a new device connected with Wi-Fi, I want to do it on interface level, but seems I can only adjust the value of “Default AP Tx rate” and “Default Client Tx rate” in the interface “wlan1” config, and no Rx value can be defined.

May I know what is the best, easiest and correct way to limit download/upload bandwidth for the wlan1 interface?

Thanks.

Regards

i think you should setup QOS rules for internet prioritization

Seems it is for identifying specific services/type of traffic?

Can I simply limit the total bandwidth on all traffic on Wi-Fi?

Thanks.

What you can do.
Create a separate VLAN for Wifi Clients.
Use Simple Queues and set a upload/download limit for the IP range in the new VLAN

Here you will find several Video covering Queuing
