Link down when I plug in ethernet

Hi folks,

I need some help with installing/configuring my SFP-RJ45 transceivers.

I own a ccr2004-1g-12s+2xs (config attached).
So far, I used a few LC SMF transceivers and connected an ethernet cable via the management port - all simple plug and play.

Today, I received my SFP-RJ45 transceivers.
When plugging them into their SFP slots, I can see the respective active light turn on and WebFig reports the interfaces as link ok, running, slave.
In the router logs, I can see

sfp-sfpplus11 link up (speed 1G, full duplex)

However, as soon as I connect an ethernet cable with a connected device to either of the RJ45 transceivers, their active light turns off, the interface reports no link and I see

sfp-sfpplus11 link down

being logged.

I tried different ethernet cables and connecting to different devices. All work on the management port. None work on any of the RJ45 transceivers.

I also tried disabling Auto Negotiation in the settings. In that case, the active light stays on and the interface reports link ok, running, slave again. Still the devices on the other end of the cable cannot establish a connection.

I am stumped and would be super thankful for any ideas what I could try.
Thank you!

For this is that I never recommend using different brands between Router/Switch and SFP module.

Most probably is that is not compatible and I recommend to you open a ticket directly with MikroTik support if they can add support for a future RouterOS version.

Next time buy a MikroTik SFP module and first see the compatibility list.
