I hunted for an answer before posting, but had some questions about some of the articles I read on this, specifically the tutorial found here:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks
The goal: to extend my wireless network hosted by a single RB411A/R52H by adding another like device on the other side of the complex so that coverage is solid throughout. One SSID so the network seems transparent when roaming about. I’d like for the present device to stay physically wired to the network switch, but the second device to talk to the first one wirelessly, without being physically wired to the LAN.
The current setup: a single RB411A/R52H connected to a switch and setup in bridge mode. The bridge contains both ether1 and wlan1 and works like a champ. WPA is being used for security. While the thought of moving the device to the center of the building was my first thought, I realized the building is too large and requires multiple devices for solid coverage.
Based on the configuration I found on the link above, it appears WDS is the way to go when adding the second device - would everyone agree? Or is there an easier way without having to configure WDS at all? If there’s another way, could someone post a URL or some form of instruction to help guide me through the process?
Again, sorry if this has been covered already, and thanks in advance for the support.
