LMT 5G and Chateau PRO ax

Hello, I tried to find answer, but could not, so I am trying to ask here. I would like to capsman-age Chateau PRO ax from LMT 5G. But, Chateau PRO ax uses “wifi menu” while LMT 5G is not. From docs I found this:

Replacing ‘wireless’ package
Some MikroTik Wi-Fi 5 APs, which ship with their interfaces managed by the ‘wireless’ menu, can install the additional ‘wifi-qcom-ac’ package to make their interfaces compatible with the ‘wifi’ menu instead.
To do this, it is necessary to uninstall the ‘wireless’ package, then install ‘wifi-qcom-ac’.
Please note that “wifi-qcom-ac” drivers are much more resource-heavy. You will have less availible RAM when using the new package and that is something to keep in mind.

So I tried this on LMT 5G, and was unable, log shows that I have no space left on the device:
system, error upgrade failed, free 7069 kB of disk space

So, I need help, how can I do this? Thank you!

Known issue whit low NAND flash devices, even more whit branding packages installed. Only thing that might work is netinstall (base pkg whit ww2) also wiping config.

I have complained both to Mikrotik / LMT but no real solution has been provided. To reduce package size that the Device can be used to its Full potential
and its a shame that a Device costing 400 EUR has 16MB SPI Flash even MikroTik Chateau LTE18 that cost also 100eur has same issue with LMT branding package and TR069
Yes New MikroTik Chateau LTE12 (2025) have fixed and now comes with 32Mb Flash storage

Your best option to get it working.
Do Full reset / Then Netinstall to the current version.
If it doesn’t help, Netinstall to the latest 7.18.2. WIth all TR069

also FYI The default LMT reset script will fail with wifi-qcom-ac package. save your LMT config wit all TR69 Passwords

LMT default config failing and TR069 credentials completely skipped my mind, so yes - do backup your config and you will need to start whit no-default-config. This is not a simple thing to do, so be aware if you want to do this. Im also not that sure if its not violating LMT terms.

Thank you guys for your time and replies! As this is not mine, but technically LMT property, I will not do this. Sad!
I wonder, if asked, they would give me new router version with 32MB flash?!

Thanks again!

Mentioned 32MB flash model is not released yet, and there is no other MT (5G) model LMT can give you (afaik). They can offer you different vendors that do not solve you problem ether. So if you want to manage two APs then you have to buy another one - let LMT device route your network.

I think You can manage new AX devices from LMT 5G router without problems. If I’m true you should see two diferente menus on LMT 5G, one is “Wifi” and second one “Wireless”. At least I see them on my LMT 5G device.

Under “Wifi” you can configure new version of Capsman even if you not have installed wifi-qcom-ac package. At least I did it from device which doesnt have new ax wifi interfaces.
I didnt configure them on LMT 5G but on my own RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD which also doesn’t have new wifi ax, but have both menus like on LMT 5G, so basicly I could do it also on LMT 5G. I did configuration on my own device, because when I will need to give back LMT devices, I will not lose configuration. So my network brain is my RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD device with old and new CapsMan Manager enabled. And yes I’am also controling LMT 5G device with it, tricky part was LTE pathrough and vlans, also i’m not sure if it was good idea

So my guess, you can capsman your new device with lmt 5g.
Picture of device without wifi-qcom packages controlling 3 access points, one ap on same device, one ap on lmt 5g device and one ap on netmetal ax device(new wifi6). All working with same SSID and so on.
