Loading e_

HI,
i have the same problem as ppl did already post here in this forum.
i installed the demo version of routeros on my pc (average desktop pc, nothing special)
but after installation i get the message “loading e” and nothing happens. tried some of the tips u mentioned in other threads (DMA, Raid…) but it didnt help yet.
i installed it on a pc with pent. 3, 256bm ram, 80gb HDD.

does someone have a solution for this prob?

i just had this happen on a router that had been up for over a year. Stupid reboot : )

I think the flash chip was corrupted / dying and the kernel became corrupted or something. I have no idea, but would be nice to figure out why it happens. So far I have had 3 different routers have this problem after being up and running for a long time. Even a netinstall can’t reload the prior config, it has trouble reading it, so I have to restore a backup after a clean install.

What type of HDD are you using? Is it known good? Try zeroing it out and starting again. You can use windows diskpart and type ‘select disk X’ and then ‘clean all’ to zero it out.

hi,

it’s an unused WD 80gb HDD. BIOS finds it directly, because i flashed it before. First it didnt work well. But that’s not the point i think.

I zeroed it and reinstalled but nothing worked yet.

No idea? Anybody?

Interesting. Got an old P4 1700 with 40GB harddisk. I got stuck with the loading E on new install, Version 2.9. 3.1 and 3.3

Modifying the Harddisk’s Ultra DMA mode got me to loading system with initrd, uncompressing Linux… Ok, Booting kernel.

So it seems to be something to do with harddisk controller or maybe chipset?

To be specific, changing the harddisk from UDMA 5 to UDMA 4 made all the difference! Mine works fine now

please try latest version available for installs.

Please be specific, which latest verion, Beta 4 or stable 3.2 - which also doesn’t work.

Beta also didn’t download correct - ISO corrupt. Other downloads extremely slow! Please fix this, South Africa doesn’t even work download wise.
