RG 493 and also RB1200 (so must be config)
Software Version 6.13
Picture (PNG) attached.
After working a while - the router is not pingable and not acessible by ip - but it is with winbox by mac-adress.
So: Cable and hardware seems to be ok.
After 10-30 sec. the router works as expected.
If looking in the log i can see:
Adress and routing-table looking normal.
DHCP-alert with OWN MAC-adress (strange)
nothing abnormal there.
No VRF no RIP or any dynamic routing
Can anybody give me a hint?
Thanks,
Oliver
Is D4:CA:6D:85:F4:DE the mac address of ETH02_to_Swit…? If not, I suspect there may be another device in the switch with also thinks it own the 192.168.1.1 IP.
If that is the MAC address of ETH02_to_Swit…, then I would suspect that someone has created a loop in the network which ends up with one port on the switch connected to another port on the switch. There may be other switches in the middle of that connection between the ports.
Just to understand… if there would be a loop - i think i also would
have trouble accessing the board by mac-adress. Because the switches are MAC-Adress sensitive -
they do not use IP to forword the packets…
But the connection by mac-adress works without any problem (at least WINBOX works).
But i cannot access the router by ip
Also: I can Access the switch and all the other devices.
Since the problem i changed the Router (RB1200 and RB493 both same)
I changed the switch (DLINK Managed - now Routerboard)
I also RESET config and just installed what i fully understand i what i need…
I am wondering if i can find out somethings with the log - but there is nothing in
and i cant imagine what to log to find out …
When doesn’t work, check the ARP and compare MACs. If different than what they should be, delete the dynamic ARP entries.
If you have a bridge set a admin MAC address.
