Lock client to specific CAPsMAN interface?

Im running a CAPsMAN server on an RB962. The wifi on the device is controlled by CAPsMAN with an additional waP AC. This makes me get 4 interface total 2 x 2.4 and 2 x 5GHz. I want to lock some clients to one of this 4 interfaces because of the range to get the best possible signal. Tried many different settings but i can’t get it work. I point out the MAC adress of the client and set accept on the interface i wanna use. If i don’t do anymore it will not choose this interface. The i tried to set reject on the other 3 and that totally locked me out of the wifi. The i tried to set accept both 2.4 & 5GHz on the ap i want to connect to and reject on the other 2. This makes the client to connect to the ap to the 2.4GHz band.

How do i configure this proper to get it to work??

What about configuring different SSID and/or pass for this AP, to which the client is connected to? Of course, you should not configure any of the rest SSIDs on this device.

Could be an option but i want one single ssid and let most of the clients to choose band/ap. Isn’t access list for just this, to lock a specific mac/client to a specific interface?

As I am completly new to CAPsMAN, and I use it generally only for my private house, I had to make a small research… Anyway, if you think it’s better to use Access List maybe you should give it a try by adding a rule:

/caps-man access-list add mac-address=AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF interface=name_of_your_cap_interface action=reject

I believe, you will have to copy the line, if you want to restrict that MAC on more than one AP.

it would be nice an option to restrict a client to connect only to a specific cap.
making access list to deny for 40 ap is not nice.

Cant you create deny rule for that MAC for all interfaces, than above it create another rules with Accept rule and and select which exact interface you want, i have it set like that at one place and it works fine.4x APs with 2.4ghz and 5ghz interfaces.

EDIT:You may have problem client side, if you trying to force it some band like 5ghz, if client is “stupid” it will try to connect to 2.4ghz and than get reject few times and stop trying to connect to 5ghz interface which you set to allow..If its laptop you may try setting it to prefer 5ghz, if nothing works best solution is to create additional SSID just for that laptop and connect it to it..
