I accidentally unchecked ‘Remote’ from the server settings… and once I disconnected I cannot reconnect. I guess that told the server not to accept remote connections any longer. What option do I have besides clearing my config ?

Here are some possible ideas. Log into the web page and see if you can fix it from there.
Run the dude directly on the device… since it is routeros I suppose that is not possible so maybe… copy the dude folder to a pc and install the dude on it. Run the dude directly from the pc and fix the check box then copy the folder back.
I could not find where the toggle is in a quick look at the files.
