Lockups...

I have two MT systems running on skt754 motherboards, with sempron processors. They lockup freqquently, they have the os installed on a 128mb flash on a converter, and they have a PCI to mPCI adapter card with atheros radios (ubiquiti sr cards)
I have the same setups running on socket 370 mainboards with via samuel processors all over town and they work great. But my socket 754 systems lock up all the time! it is really driving me crazy, i have reinstalled and config’d MT and replaced all hardware. The log does not show any problems.
Just before they lockup, if i am at the terminal i will start seeing VERY VERY slow keyboard responsiveness. Also i will see watchdog complain that it cannot ping and is going to reboot, but it never reboots. i have to hard reboot it.
If anyone else has MT working on a skt754 system with a 64bit CPU please let me know.

i want to buy C3 samual MoBos what version of MT do you use inside?

The SR2s draw allot of power and the PCI bus standard only requires that 20W are available for 5V. You might be pushing this limit for the PCI bus (your motherboard or mini-tower power supply may be insufficient – or even the mpci to pci adapter).

I use many via C3 motherboards in pvc boxes on towers, they work great with every version of MT i have tried. i started using those boards during version 2.9.19 i believe.
About the power issues, i am aware of the pci bus power limitations and thats not what the problem is. Good suggestion though!

How do you know it is not a PCI bus power issue? What test did you perform?

We have specially modified PCI to mPCI adapter cards that have 3.3v leads attached directly to the power supply.

I have about 40 systems working in the field great, on towers. Some have up to 7 SR-series mPCI radio cards.

Those systems are working great in the field with the via C3 motherboards.

i have only two systems locking up, one has two radio cards and the other has four. The modified adapter cards should be powering those easily.

Since my original post i have replaced the sytems again with athlon xp based systems. but they are still locking up… EVERYTHING on the problem systems has been replaced multiple times over. I have sent my config and supouts to MT and they have not been able to figure it out either.
