Login Banner

Hi There,

I have created myself a custom login banner which I like, however I’d like to get rid of (at least) the help text:
[?] Gives the list of available commands
command [?] Gives help on the command and list of arguments

[Tab] Completes the command/word. If the input is ambiguous,
a second [Tab] gives possible options

/ Move up to base level
.. Move up one level
/command Use command at the base levelHappy for the mikrotik and OS version number to stay, but also happy for it to go if there isn’t an option for one or the other.

Is there a way to do this without being Mikrotik partner to compile your own versions?

Thanks,
Joe

Nope, there is no way to do that, even if you are a “partner”

Thanks for the response normis - I assumed partners / distributors could do it as they are able to customise imagery for webfig etc.

What would be the correct way to request a feature in the way of adding an option under /system note to turn help text off?

As mentioned, very happy for the Mikrotik banner and info to stay - just the help text is unnecessary to those who are familiar.

Thanks

I believe that help text only appears once

Shows up every time on SSH/Telnet, for any v6.X I have (6.1, 6.11, 6.12 tested just now).

An older 5.25 doesn’t show it though when I login. Maybe disabling after first login was broken in v6? If it could be changed back to only show on first login that’d be great.

You are right. It turns out that the v5.x versions didn’t show it because of a bug, that was fixed in v6.x

I will see if we can somehow allow editing of the banner, but that will not be possible with current versions, maybe in the future. All you can do now, is add text with the Note, like you are doing now
