Check the logs for information about the particular user (the reason, why he or she is not able to login),
make sure that you have switched on login-by=mac, and mac-address is added to the ‘hotspot user’ database.
Okay… I activated Login-By-MAC option but did not add MAC address to that hotspot user because I could not find those instructions on the forum or wiki.
I will check the logs this time to see what is the error… FYI… I have upgraded my RouterBoard to OS 2.9.43 and Firmware 2.8 when I conducted this test procedure.
And the RouterBoard hangs every time my hotspot users reaches 30 users. It had happened three times already every day since the upgrade patch.
I am forced to downgrade the OS and Firmware to 2.9.42 and 2.8 repsective which did not give me any hannging up problem before this for months.
A hardware power down cycle is required to restore the hotspot system back to working condition.
Note, that after upgrade from 2.8 to 2.9 it is recommended to start HotSpot configuration from the scratch (you need to erase 2.8 HotSpot configuration).
HotSpot documentation provides description for MAC-authentication method, how MAC-address authentication should be configured. You have to add users as,
‘ip hotspot user add name=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX’, where XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX is mac-address.
Yes I did follow the same configuration technique you mentioned above and I have started the Hotspot configurations from version 2.9.29 onwards… and have been using the modified login.html scripts files since then… must I re-do all the configurations from scratch including the login scripts as you have mention above to play safe?
No, I thought that you have 2.8 version, 2.9 should not produce any issues.
You have to contact support with attached support output file and detailed description of your problem.
