Hello! I’m sorry if this has been posted about before, but it is a difficult issue to search for. It does not help that I am not a networking engineer.
My company is using the hap ac2 in a kiosk type installation for many of our customers. The hap is used to create a private LAN for our systems inside of the customer’s LAN. We are using their internet, but don’t want them to snoop on all our devices.
In a small number of installs we are experiencing an issue in which everything works as expected until we plug the ethernet cable from the customer’s network in to the WAN port of the hap. As soon as we do, it causes a huge increase in latency between devices INSIDE our private LAN, under the hap.
This makes it effectively impossible for us to connect to the wider internet at these locations without upgrading to an LTE capable router. What’s more is if we replace the hap with a consumer grade netgear or similar this issue is not present. This leads me to believe that there is an issue with the configuration of the hap. We did create our own custom configuration, but I can’t think of anything in it that would cause such an issue. Also, we had a tech on site at one of these locations reset to the default configuration and the problem persisted.
For some context, the specific devices we are experiencing the issue with are iOS devices sending HTTP requests to linux devices. I’m trying to get details now on if this exists for all devices on the network or just these two types.
