We are a growing company with an Asset we deploy all over the world. We use the RB411 as our communication gateway on the GSM cellular network. We really need some help in the following areas:
- Up / Down Scripts to ensure modem gets back on-line
- WiFi / Security configuration
- Remote Update / Upgrade
- API knowledge
- Cellular reliability
- General asset management
- Configuration Management
We currently have about 200 RB411 boards deployed all around the world, we expect to deploy 10x that number in 2015. We would be interested in a contract resource or potentially an FTE position. We will be migrating to the 911 / 912 boards as well early in 2015, so some new configuration scripts and auto deploy scripts will need to be developed. We are also interested in possible implementation of BGP and maybe some sort of Layer 2 connection to our data centers.
PM or email me kiteOregon at g.m.a.i.l, if you think this would work for you, or if you know somebody that might be interested.
Thanks.
Am i asking in the wrong place, or is this a role that can’t be filled?
It’s kind of a role that can’t be filled, as no one is really an expert in everything.
However, many certified consultants probably have sufficient know-how to help you configure your network the way you want it, and then leave you on your own, perhaps after setting up some billing system or whatever, so that you don’t really need a network professional, unless you want to modify your network’s settings for whatever reason (e.g. you want to offer a new service).
Also, the areas you’ve defined are very vague…
- Cellular reliability
- General asset management
- Configuration Management
Cellular? You mean like cellphone internet (3G and the like)? AFAIK, MikroTik does not have means for serving that. This requires an entirely different hardware and software infrastructure, and people that you won’t find in this forum.
“General asset”? What does that even mean?
“Configuration management” as in being able to do what sorts of things? Applying configuration over several routers? That’s kind of given with “API knowledge”, since the API could be used for that, but it almost seems like you’re talking about routing management (e.g. BGP, OSPF, RIP), which is a different beast… Or are you talking about “every day” configuration management - the kind that could be automated with a custom API/RADIUS application?
