Hi, first of all, its for testing purpose and not for permanent deployment, so lets not discuss about legality about it.
So, here is the scenario.
I have a 10mbps connection at my office. Now, I want to share it with my home which is 4kms from my office.
And 3 other employees are who are within the radius of 10km..
1st project is connecting Home with Office.
Office is 3 storey and Home is 4 storey.
So, what setup and equipments do you recommend, so I can purchase it this week and start the testing.
I would set them both up as bridge mode, put a management IP address on the bridge interface, and do nothing else.
(This assumes you want the remote sites to be on your office LAN as if they were at work)
If you want to put multiple employee homes, you should plan to upgrade the office radio to something with a wider beam so that you can cover more locations with the single radio, but for testing, two sxt should be great.
Wherever you would plug in a computer or printer or any device that you want to be on your LAN, plug it there.
It’s going to be just like an AP (it /is/ an AP) - except that it has a narrow, but long range beam in stead of a wide, but short range like a normal indoor AP has.
I’m keeping this simple for you - obviously you can do a bazillion things because Mikrotiks are flexible. If you want to do something like share your office Internet for free to your house and other employees, but not give LAN access, then you would connect it to a router and put different IP addresses and rules and all of that good stuff, but for now, it sounds like you need to start with something simple and grow from there.
