I have Dude 1.2 running on a XP Pro machine. 2.6GHz P4 with 256 MB ram. After about 4-6 hrs I lose 3-4 MT boxes the dude. By lose I mean dude shows them offline. I can login to them with winbox, not through dude. After I restart the machine all is fine for another 4-6 hours.
Screensave is off. Power is set for always on, no standby or hibernate. Only thing running beside default services is dude (set as a service) and AVG antivirus.
What is causing this to happen? Work arounds?
Mike
You should go to your windows Event Log (Start->Settings->Control
Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer and see if you have Event #4226 in your logs.
If you have it then you are reaching maximum number of allowed outgoing
connection attempts (10). This feature(?) was introduced in windows XP
service pack 2. More details here:
What happens is that windows puts new outgoing connections in queue and if
queue is long enough dude probe timeouts (default 10 seconds) and marks
service as down.
In general there are two ways to overcome this - make bigger probe intervals
and smaller timeouts (needed only for tcp probes), or use some program that
removes this limit from your system. One such patcher is available from here
(use it at your own risk):
