Lost my syslog Dude 6.35.4

Hi all,

I am running Dude 6.35.4 CHR in Hyper-V.
Suddenly i lost all my syslog entries, nothing shows up anymore.
How can i get syslog running okay again?

Thanks, Eric

Have, you checked the dude storage folder via ftp or direct access? Maybe the files are there…

Hi,

Yes the files are there but nothing is getting logged anymore, did not change anything on the settings.

Regards, Eric

I would just ignore that and check if v6.36rc latest build fixes the problem. v6.34.4 build does not contain all of the latest changes when if comes to the dude server, so I seen no point in staying on this version unless it’s production VM performing some other tasks also. In new builds we have changed how syslog server works. It now partially relies on ROS log. So now it’s possible to view it both through ROS log and The Dude client. By this change old log(prior to this change) are not accessible by the dude server anymore. Old syslog files will be still there in The Dude data dir tho.

Oh. Does it mean that we have lost the ability to migrate the dude from one device to another with the full set of data and settings? It seems so.

Yes, at the moment the dude logs are not automatically exported anymore. We have to think about how we want to approach this problem and re-implement this in a new way.

Yes. You should have some solution to get full dude config out and in in one single step like with old dude. Otherwise it is a big step back…
