I’ve problem with the RB411AR and the builtin 2GHz radiocard. The noicefloor is 10-15dBm lower then
using an r52nM card on the same routerboard, configuration and antenna.
I have tried 4 different RB411AR with the same result. The older RB411Ar with ufl connector is much
better. There it is only a 5dBm difference
I tought I had a lot of noice on my sites, but when I tried in a proven noice free site I started to wonder.
Compared to RB751G-2nD there is almost 20dBm difference in the noice floor. Makes a huge diffenence on the usable
usable distance for the wireless network.
Is the built in card so bad in it’s filters or is it a driver issue?
Anyone noticed this as well? Any comments welcome.
I made a Ticket#2012082166000256 a few days ago, but no reply from MT
That noise floor issue is actually a sensitivity issue and stated plainly as such in the RB411AR documentation. Why did MT choose to implement so inferior RF circuity beats me. Maybe they will answer you or even better improve next revision of that given device.
I would like to see a 5GHz capable device similar to RB411AR or even an abgn one with much better sensitivity of course.
MT need to make RB411AR better. They are make building hotspots
Your requirement is two radio cards in one device? If not, you could use the RB711 2GHz, which has better sensitivity than RB411AR. If you really do need two interrfaces - we are also nearly ready to announce another product which you will like. Just come to the MUM to find out.
