I’ve just installed and configured a mikrotik box in my network for test. It’s working fine but i noticed that when connecting through Winbox (the first time) the speed that the plugins are downloaded is very low (20-25KBytes/s).
When connecting to another mikrotik box the speed is very high. Everything else seems to work really fine.
Can this slow my entire internet connection or is this something localized only in the plugins download??

ive seen this on 3 or 4 mt boxes…2 of them were WRAP 2e , one was s RB 112..

When you first time connect to the Mikrotik box via winbox, it is connecting you via mikrotik’s mac address.
When you press search button in the mikrotik first time it gives you some ip address like 1.1.1.1 or 192.168.0.5 or something.
If you want faster access to mikrotik first time put the ip on a address box, not the mac address.
indeed, connection using mac address is not very stable, so - there are many resends happening., better for the first time connection use ssh or telnet set up ip address and only then connect to router using it ip address spice_prash suggested.
