I have problem with performance on atheros AR5212 based WDS link.
Using 5ghz or 5ghz turbo mode, on 2.8.19 there is performace problem,
througput is ~512kbit/s only, on 2.8.16 I have +10mbit/s througput however there wireless connection seems to lockup, system is still working, wireless connection not works, WDS shows RA, however connection not work, I have to log on from ethernet side and do something on wlan interface to make it working again, eg. hit scan start/stop. Signal is -80
I have upgraded to 2.8.19, there is something wrong, pings are big.
Where is problem ? Please help
Please send a supout file from both sides to support@mikrotik.com – we have heard a number of complaints like this for the 5213. However, our test work perfectly. It may be that some D-link custom mpci designs with Atheros chips do not work well with our current low level radio setup – perhaps the Dlinks and such use a different PA chip or some other low level changes. I guess we need to buy some Dlink cards and such.
Please clarify the brand and chip on the card you us.

I’m using Proxim card connected to Senao. Senao is propably 5213 (I will check this today), I have started using wireless legacy with 2.8.19, for now it’s ok, low ping, througput seems ok, need wait more time to check for stability. How to make support file ?
I have exactly the same problem with one of my links. Some times the link locks up… client is stil connected to the ap, but cannot ping the client. Then i have to disable and enable the interface on the ap, client reconnects and i can ping it again. Im using MT brand Atheros 5211.

Btw. im using 2.8.18 with wireless legacy driver.
If you use the 5211 from us, then you should use v2.8.19 to correct and disconnect/reconnect issues.

this seams to be a problem that I mention here on forum a month before, about non legacy drivers for atheros 5213…
I am still with 2.8.16 with legacy wireless…
Same problem w/ a chain of Compaq SFF 400Mhz machines with DLink DWL-AG530 cards. When traffic gets past 10mbps the connection stops between machine at ISP and machine at Client 1- registration table shows the client is connected but ping doesn’t work. I have to change channel on the machine at ISP ap in order to bring the connection back. These are connected in AP-Bridge to Client mode. I am still on 2.8.18 on these boxes.
----Machine at ISP-----------------Machine at Client 1-------------------Machine at Client 2
|ether - wlan1(ap)| — |wlan1(client) - ether - wlan2(ap-bridge)| — |wlan1 - ether|
I have mitigated by limiting traffic down to 4mbps full-duplex for each customer, but I don’t think this is a good solution. When these three boxes were in the office for testing before deployment the throughput (using bandwidth test) was over 20mbps full-duplex over two hops.
Help!
MiniPCI cards are on both sides:
NL-5354 MP PLUS Aries2 (F)
I have checked , it’s AR5213A on main chip of cards.
What is fastest way to resolve problem ?
This problem is presents on both band 5ghz and 2.4ghz or only 5ghz ??
Changing to AR5212 will prevent me from lockups ???
I’m sure there is no problem with: pigtail, cable, water, interference.
Please help !
ps. Support files has been sent…
