Hi,
I have no previous experience with Mikrotik devices, however when I was looking for a cheap and flexible solution for a 4G backup connection at work, I came across the LtAP 4G kit. I bought one and it worked perfectly… Until the device lost internet connectivity. The logs displayed messages like:
sent AT+CPIN?
rcvd +CME ERROR: SIM failure
I have tried rebooting the device, re-inserting the sim card, and swapping sim card slots but nothing worked. On a hunch, I tested the sim card in my phone and it turns out it wasn’t working in there either. I had a spare SIM card lying around, activated the thing and inserted it into the LtAP 4G. Problem solved. Until a few weeks later… same issue. Internet connection lost, tried all the usual troubleshooting steps but the SIM card was broken again. (The SIM card didn’t work in my phone and neither did it work in a Netgear mobile router.)
So this time I got a brand spanking new SIM card directly from the telco. Problem solved. Until a few weeks later… same issue. Rinse and repeat.
Is this a known issue with Mikrotik LTE devices? What can I do to stop the LtAP from breaking SIM cards?
Kind regards,
Thomas

This happens if I switch the SIM card from one slot to another (to force a re-initialization).
