I tried today to upgrade the firmware of the R11e-LTE6 modem on an ltAP (ROS 6.48.6) from V033 to V034 … no chance → always “status:failed”
the terminal comand:
/interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
shows:
installed: R11e-LTE6_V033
latest: R11e-LTE6_V034
the comand:
/interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
shows always:
status:failed
Any ideas ?

Already tried a simple reboot and then perform the upgrade again ?
Worked for me in the past when I saw that message …
yes … several reboots … no change
Do you have any extra packages other than the basics installed ?
yes, ntp package
You can try to remove it (you can always install again later on).
Also check anything else which is filling up your storage and get rid of it (copy aside).
And … (since I remembered it being mentioned somewhere, I went searching for the details)
can you consider moving to ROS7 ?
In 7.3 there is a very specific change related to your device
*) lte - fixed LTE firwmare upgrade on RBLtAP-2HnD with R11e-LTE6;
You can already try to move to 6.49.6 and see if that works (though I do not see anything in the changelogs between both ROS6 versions)
It’s only in 7.3 I saw this specific change being mentioned.

If you don’t want upgrade to ROS 7.4, you need this.

“Please update RouterOS to the latest v7 stable which has support for modem firmware from version v033.”
so V034 is for ros7 and later…
You don’t really HAVE to upgrade that modem firmware, you know.
I upgraded mine last week, I am not seeing noticeable differences.

it definitely was possible before, I have many 6.48.6 with R11e-LTE6 upgraded do 034. I hope Mikrotik didn’t inspire themselves in big techs “we force you to upgrade to out great new product without a reason” policy.. So now, if I buy R11e-LTE6 with something old like 027 and want to upgrade the fw, due to this crappy way of upgrades without any control of it, it will offer me 034 and not let me install it, because I am forced to upgrade to V7.. that’s unfortunate :-/
edit - ok, so now the funny part - I tested a new R11e-LTE6 fw 025 in 6.48.6 and guess what? Found upgrade to 034 and successfully upgraded. So update 033->034 fails, but 025->034 works and upgrades fine. Weird
was anyone successful with the firmware update to V036 under ROS 6.x ?
