LTE Dongle problem

Hi All, Greetings from Melbourne, Australia.
New to Mikrotik but been around networks since unix was BSD. The grey matter doesn’t work as well as it used to either so I’m trying to shake some of the rust off.

I’ve currently got a little Map2n to play with and am trying to hookup a Telstra (ZTE) mf823 LTE usb dongle to it. to give me a portable connection that i can use to experiment with for different applications.

so current setup is
Eth1 is running into my home network 192.168.1.0

Eth2 is connected to my test laptop 192.168.2.0

this works fine full connectivity to the internet etc
MF 823 dongle connected via usb

I’ve searched through a number of supposed tutorials and tried to follow what’s they’ve said but I can’t seem to get connectivity via the LTE dongle.

When connected the dongle flashes green like it’s supposed to ( have confirmed it works by going straight into the laptop)
in interfaces is see the lte1 interface ok

the lte1 interface gets assigned an ip address 192.168.3.182 which I can ping ok so the dhcp client is being assinged an address from the modem

When I try to ping 192.168.3.1 (the lte modem) I just get a req timed out

When I look at routes it says the 192.168.3.1 is reachable as is my home network

So I’m thinking I must have a firewall or nat issue.. I’ve tried assigning a masquerade setup in the nat and setup a forward rule but to no avail. This is probably a real noobie mistake thus the post in this section.

Any light you could shed would be appreciated.

thx
Jason

ok I sorted it the problem was the way I’d done the masquerade in the NAT had specified it on the in rather than the out port…

this is so cool the power of this software is amazing… and running it on such a small hardware platform!!!

I love technology!!! you guys that build this stuff are fantasmagorical !!!
