So… when they announced an LTE6 modem available I ordered an LHG with an LTE6 modem. I put this up and aimed it at the same tower as my other LHG with the old LTE modem in it.
Expecting the LTE6 modem to be “at least as fast” as the older modem, you can imagine how disappointed I was when I got 1/4 the speed on the new LHG.
I’ve contacted support… sent them a bunch of support files, and never really got a good answer in reply. They just kind of dropped the ball.
Has any one else had similar experience in the USA with the LTE6 modems?
I no have experience with LTE6 module and I’m not from USA, but I know that everytime that my smartphone do the carrier agreggation (CA) displayed “4G+”, my Internet connection is terrible (is better 3G on most cases). Now how my phone is rooted, I locked the band selection and only it connects to the best bands when LTE is available. With this, no more CA. My experience browsing on Internet is much better now. I think that probably your LTE6 module is not the problem. I think that the “quality of CA” is not good. You tested before your connection on a smartphone using CA?
You should buy Quectel EP06-A insted who have bands dedicated to america until we not receive a proper lte module from MikroTik like -lte6-us or -lte6-a or -lte12-na etc. I guess models because we not have that jet.
you have now -lte6 then provide some technical data, you upgrade firmware to v025 ?
What bands works 1/4 slower then -lte module ?
He’s comparing between the R11e-LTE-US and the R11e-LTE6. The former (which he says has a higher speed) does not have CA support.
The R11e-LTE6 has a wider band support but is not specifically targeted to the US market, which may account for the performance issues.
Is there any significant difference between the two mounts?
Are there any possible EMF/RFI interference sources near the newer device?
That firmware is the latest, but is that the same firmware as the older device?
I’m asking only to corroborate facts, not to deny your frustrations. Work with me!
Can you possibly post WinBox screenshots of:
the speed test results of both devices
the LTE interface’s Cellular tab of both devices with the following fields censored
Current Operator,
LAC,
Current Cell ID,
eNB ID,
Sector ID,
IMEI,
IMSI,
UICC
They don’t need to include CQI if it’s not present, but it’s best if you can get the screenshots while the links are stressed.
I’m seeing exactly the same thing only (only I’m using the same LHG just switching the modem cards out).
I tried to post the message below to this forum but for some reason it never went up. I’ve also sent a support request to Mikrotik but gotten no response yet.
I purchased a LHG-LTE6 kit a couple of weeks ago. When I turned it on I got little to no signal and no service (with AT&T sim). I, incorrectly, thought it might be US vs international thing so I ordered a R11-LTE-US card to test out. I’ve since determined that with all other things being equal, i.e. same LHG router/antenna, same location, same pointing direction, same connecting cell tower, similar signal measurements, the r11e-LTE6 is performing about 3x to 5x slower than the r11e-LTE-US (e.g 5Mb down vs 15Mb down). I’ve already updated all of the firmware to the latest.
I’m in a rural area just out side of Portland OR, and it’s about 15 miles to the tower I’m connecting to.
So I’m wondering what the issue is?
Do I have a bad modem? (I have submitted a support request to Mikrotik but no response yet).
Maybe my sim card isn’t provisioned correctly? (is that really a thing?)
Or is it possible that LTE6 simply doesn’t perform well in low signal conditions?
I have a neighbor asking me what equipment to get, I want to tell him to get a LTE6 for future proofing but not if it’s going perform poorly.
at&t is problematic with properly registration. Means you could register to network, receive IP from ISP and lte1 is running but you not receive any internet. Any ping not work. Then you can try open webpage but you must use DNS from ISP and discover message who give you info you must change your plan. Then this means your device is not supported for using your phone plan, you must use differ plan not for phones but for tablets (and any other not-phone devices).

Check is MMC and MNC are the same becase in US the same operator at the differ plan(s) or device can give you a differ network with differ bands !, please check that.

No logs, no screenshot… no how to describe and do any research.

I have a tablet SIM, and it does work just significantly slower in the LTE6 modem than in the LTE-US modem.

I will check that as soon as I can.

Which logs or screenshots do you you want to see? There is a lot of information in the RouterOS software and some of it is sensitive. I did generate support.rif files for both modems and sent them to Mikrotik support but no response yet.
or just give info, you are sure that “Current Cell ID” is the same to what you connect ? If yes… then replay again to mikrotik.
If you send them e-mail and no responce then do a new way, register at https://help.mikrotik.com/servicedesk , create again case, share it with me by putting info@sibex.it - but remember that I can see your rif files, write a message at that case too.

I actually did submit my issue through the service desk, looks like the support ticket is #SUP-18452, subject “R11e-LTE6 performing slower than R11e-LTE-US”.
I don;t know. That case is not shared with me.
About speed, it’s always is topic with signals <> bands <> agregation - with that knowleadge we can describe what/why is slower/faster.
